Monica Sementilli, 51, is being tried for the murder of her celebrity hairstylist husband Fabio Sementilli, who was stabbed to death in the patio of his $2million Los Angeles home in 2017.
Her former lover, convicted sex offender and former porn star Robert Baker, pleaded guilty to Sementilli's murder in 2023. Last week, he took the stand in Monica's trial to claim she is innocent and that he acted on his own 'because he wanted her.'
But when confronted by the prosecution, Baker admitted the widow sent X-rated photos of herself when she was in Canada for Sementilli's funeral.
'Everyone grieves differently,' Baker said in court, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. Friday's hearing was filled with jaw-droppingly graphic detail of Monica Sementilli and Baker's sex life.
Prosecutors say the two killers continued their relationship from behind bars after the murder - with the help of a third-party number that connected them through three-way calls.
They also sent each other clandestine 'kite' messages - at one point, officials seized a toothpaste tube that contained Baker's semen. Authorities said he intended to have it delivered to Monica Sementilli for purposes unknown.
Baker said when they were in cells that were visible to each other, he instructed the widow to partially undress and perform a sexual act, which she did. The killer also said Monica Sementilli shaved his initials into her pubic hair and called him 'master' and 'maestro.'
He added that he also performed sex acts for Monica Sementilli from his cell, which he called 'jailing.'
Baker claimed on the stand that through all of this, the widow had no idea he had killed her husband. He said eventually he realized Sementilli had figured it out, because she called him a 'f***ing murderer.'
Deputy district attorney Beth Silverman pressed Baker on why he has provided multiple versions of events since Sementilli's murder, including trying to cover up the identity of another man involved in the killing - Christopher Austin, 38.'I lied about the second person,' Baker admitted while on the stand.
Austin, a probation officer in Oregon, pleaded guilty to second degree murder. He told the jury that Monica Sementilli wanted her husband dead and left he couple's house unlocked so he and Baker could kill the hairstylist.
'Everything he did he did after he got a text message, which told me he was talking to her via text message,' Austin said in court. 'I did not hear him talk to her on the phone ... but everything happened in sequence.'
Prosecutors say Monica Sementilli was the mastermind of the plot to kill her husband for insurance money - and so that she could be with Baker without the trouble of going through a divorce.
She met Baker, 62, when he was a racquetball coach at West Hills LA Fitness.
Baker previously confessed to stabbing Sementilli several times with an eight-inch hunting knife. He and Austin then fled the scene in Sementilli's Porsche.
Since her arrest, Monica has pleaded not guilty, and her attorney, Leonard Levine, has claimed that she was falsely accused.
Fabio, a professional hairdresser and vice president of cosmetic giant Coty, was found stabbed several times in the face and body on the patio of his Woodland Hills home in January 2017.
His vehicle, a 2008 black Porsche Carrerra 911, was also reported missing and is believed to have been be used as a getaway car.
His home at the 5000 block of Queen Victoria Road is heavily protected with a gated entry, home surveillance and night vision security cameras.
Officials have previously accused Monica of plotting to kill her husband to claim her share of his $1.6million insurance policy.
The couple, who had previously lived in Toronto before relocating to Los Angeles, had been married 20 years.
Prosecutors had told the grand jury that Monica was the opposite of a grieving widow in the aftermath of her husband's death, according to the transcript obtained by LA legal blog Trials & Tribulations.
'She's a liar, she's a manipulator, she's a cheater and everything that comes out of her mouth has to be taken with a large grain of salt... Large enough so that you could choke on it,' prosecutors said.
They described Sementilli as an 'Academy Award-winning actress' because she posted to Facebook saying how much she missed her husband and a day later allegedly kissed her lover in a bar.
That same day in the bar, prosecutors said Sementilli was caught on surveillance going out for a cigarette, where she proceeded to grab the bouncer's thigh and then make out with him.
'This p****s off Baker... because of course, he's gotten rid of the husband and this is how she repays him, right in front of his face,' prosecutors told the jury.
According to testimony given before the grand jury, Baker had allegedly told friends that Sementilli was demanding in bed and that she had a preference for anal sex.
Her attorneys have argued that parts of the testimony, particularly the sexual elements, are not relevant to her murder charge and could jeopardize a fair trial.
